What are a few tips to get my home ready for Spring?
Spring is almost here! Getting your home ready for the warm weather should be on your ‘to do’ list. When is the last time you checked your smoke alarms? How about the last time you cleaned out your dryer vent? Here are a few tips on how to make your home ready for the spring season.
- When the weather breaks grab your ladder and check your gutters for debris. Remove as much as you can with your hands and then use your garden hose and let water run through your gutters and downspouts.
- While the water is running through your gutters, check your downspouts to ensure the water is running at lase 10 feet away from your foundation.
- Replace all filters in your home including any water, range hood, furnace and air vent filters.
- Check your dryer vent to ensure it is clean of any lint. Make sure the vent cover flap moves freely.
- Unscrew the faucet aerators, sink sprayers and showerheads, and soak them in equal parts vinegar and water solution.
- Test smoke alarms and CO detectors and change out batteries as needed.
- If you put your window screens in storage pull them out and ensure they do not need to be replaced. Install them on your windows and doors.
