Q and A - Family Road Trip
Q: We’re heading out for the great family summer road trip. We’re worried about home security while we’re gone, any advice?
A: The family summer road trip is a right of passage and is not to be missed. Worrying about your home shouldn’t impact your trip. First off, don’t advertise that you are leaving, or gone. Leave all social media posts about your trip for when you return. At the home-front, keep things looking like ‘normal’. That means not allowing the paper and mail, and any deliveries, to accumulate. Stop the paper and mail delivery or entrust a neighbor to collect them and keep an eye on things. Depending on the length of your trip, make plans with somebody trusted to cut the lawn. Also consider a few inexpensive lighting timers that will turn on lights at dusk and turn them off at bedtime. Enjoy your trip!
